April 2021 Update

“Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.” Proverbs 30:5

“Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” Psalm 37:4

My last post was quite a while ago! Life has slowed down somewhat since I last posted, so I thought I’d take a little time and update this journaI. I seem to be starting every blog post like this recently*…

(**recently not necesarily meaning in the near past….)

Pixie is now over a year and a half, and she walks, runs, chatters, and gives lots of kisses. She is getting older, and we all appreciate what she brings into our family. Every time she sees me, she says “Houdu Nimi!”, which translates to asking someone to hold her. “Hold you!” It’s so cute, because she picked up on people asking her if she wanted them to “Hold you” her, and now she asks the same way!

Moving!

By the end of March, we were completely out of the old house, and we gave the keys to the landlord. Everything went well and it all paid off to wait so long for the right house.

Mama and Daddy had been looking to move for over a year, but we never found the right place. We spent almost eight years at the old house, which had five acres, and for most of that time, we kept animals such as chickens, sheep, and pigs. We’ve always had both dogs and cats my entire life. We were looking for a place that had a good sized house to fit all the people, and a good property size to fit all the animals. If you live in BC anywhere in the lower mainland, you’d know that property prices are sky high. They were having a hard time finding a suitable place.

In December 2020, we found what looked like a perfect place! Mama and Daddy went to go see it, and came back with a good report, and things moved smoothly from that point on. We had to give up keeping sheep and chickens though, because the property wasn’t big enough to support them, but we still have a huge yard, and the dogs (and cats) love it.

Old house memories

Halfway through January, we got the keys, and the next three months were a whirl of cleaning, packing, more cleaning, organizing, planning, and moving. Now, our focus is downsizing and moving all the way in.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:2

Currently, we are able to meet outside the meeting room for Breaking of Bread on Sundays, which is so nice. I love being with everybody again. (Albeit with masks on and six feet apart.)

Mama’s birthday!

I missed posting about Mama’s birthday ths year, but we celebrated with greek food, and she got a waffle maker (the kind that flips over) as one of her presents, and Grandma made her a birthday cake. I had lots of fun wrapping the presents! We also gave her an icing knife set, with a size she wasn’t able to find before! I’m very grateful for Mama. Happy late birthday!

Sixteen!

I turned sixteen at the end of January, which is crazy. One of my birthday gifts was an orchid plant with beautiful white flowers, and it’s still blooming! I was going to do a post about my joined birthday dinner with Daddy (sushi!), but I never got around to it. I’ll put a few pictures in!

I have been sort of procrastinating in getting my driver’s licence, partly because I wasn’t quite sure where to start, partly because I just haven’t got around to it (school and moving have made the past months full), and I guess partly because I wasn’t sure how excited I am to start driving and be a part of the dangerous world.

But, moving’s over, and I know what to do, and I have to start growing up sometime, don’t I? I booked an appointment a couple days ago to take my learner’s test, so I have a deadline!

I feel both old and young at the same time… Part of being a teenager!

Spring!

The days have been getting brighter and beautiful, and daffodils and dandelions are everywhere! Flowers are like smiles of cheesiness that grow with the sunshine! Spring is one of my favorite times of the year.

Lunch outside!

My room has a big window, and it’s facing the sunsets. It’s been beautiful.

Oh, and I can’t wait for summer to come! It’s like springtime, but without the overcast, rainy school days.

Orphan baby rabbits

A few weeks ago, the other kids found a rabbit’s nest that the dogs tore up, and the mother was nowhere to be found. We don’t think she survived. We rescued four almost week-old newborn baby rabbits, and have been raising them. They are doing incredibly well, and have moved on to eat vegetables as well as their formula! When they’re old enough, we plan to release them back outside, just away from the dogs. It’s been such a neat learning expierience taking care of them. Mama’s really the one who’s kept them alive, though. She’s always had a touch with caring for animals.

The dogs love the new house!

I have to end this post here, hope you enjoyed!

“doing her schoolwork…”

“Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
