Summer

It is summer once again, and a busy one at that! So far, I’ve flown to Regina by myself (and gotten covid in the process), we’ve had a barbeque, celebrated two birthdays, hosted some guests for a few days, and soon will all be embarking on our East Coast of Canada trip! We will fly to Boston, and then from there drive to Canada and make our way down to the coast and back, over the course of two weeks. As one might imagine, this takes a lot of planning and packing to do for eleven people! We are all excited though, and packing is going pretty smoothly. There is a LOT of laundry involved!

I’ve been enjoying babysitting occasionally, which has been nice. It almost feels like a break, or a relaxing time, as there’s less kids that need attention! I love my siblings, but life in a house of eight siblings is anything but quiet and calm. Peaceful, sometimes, but always at least a bit chaotic. 🙂

The weather here has been on and off. We’ll have a few hot and sunny days, and then it will be overcast and possibly sprinkling for the next. Mosquitos are CRAZY. Last week, we tried to have a picnic lunch at Barnston Island with some friends, but when we got to the lunch spot, there were so many mosquitos that we headed back and ate at home! It was still a nice walk, and we all got to go on a little ferry that was super fun!

We’ve been trying to wake up and go to sleep earlier and earlier, as firstly we have to wake up at 4 to meet a flight, and secondly the east coast is in a different, much earlier time zone! It only gets worse from Boston! Hopefully we will adjust quickly so we can enjoy our whole trip.

Flying on the airplane as a group of eleven people is going to be interesting! We take up quite a section, and for many of the kids it’s their first time ever on an airplane! For others, the last time was before they can remember. It will be an adventure for sure, hopefully one that’s exclusively fun and stress-free one! One can dream. 🙂

I’m off to go help other people pack, so I have to sign this off. Enjoy your summer!

Butler took this one for me–out of a moving car!
